Week of 10-6 to 10-10

Biology

Student completed chapter 2 with a test this week. Starting Tuesday, students will begin chapter 3 learning about ecosystem and communities.

ABC

Students are reviewing matter, elements and compounds. Today 5th hour class had a competitive game of Periodic Table Bingo.

A&P

Students are taking weekly root word quizzes!! This helps with all the terms that come in nursing and medical classes. Next week students will be starting on the skeletal system and learning all 206 of the bones in the human body.

Busy week 9-8 to 9-12

Biology
This week students have been reviewing scientific method. We have learned the difference between independent and dependent variables. We have discussed experiments. We even looked at a everyday application of scientific method with the weekly "Does it work Wednesday".

A&P
Students have continued with the introduction of Anatomy and Physiology. Student are learning about the characteristic of life and basic requirements of life.

ABC
Students have learned about the Earth's major spheres. Students have also reviewed longitude and latitude.

Wednesday Lessons

Biology
Students took guided notes for section 1.1. Students learn about different principles of biology and the characteristic of living organisms.


A&P
Students took notes on organzation of humans beings and the requirements for life.


ABC

Students took quiz on scientific method. Students started notes on Earth science and geology.

Week Two

Today the student evaluated their learning styles. Students answered 70 question and found their learning styles. As a class we discussed how to use their learning style to their advantage. Students can really benefit on knowing this.

Safety Day

All my classes had a lesson on Safety in the lab. Students watched a video on lab safety and learned about safety devices in the classroom. Classes also discussed fire, earthquake and tornado drills.

Homework: Worksheet on Safety devices; Lab Contracts- Must be signed by parent ( if returned by Monday student will receive 10 points).

First day of school

The first day of school went by so fast. I enjoyed meeting all the new students I have in Biology. ABC and A&P are students that I have taught before in the last two years. Today all classes went over the student handbook. All students should have a copy of the syllubus by today or tomorrow ( depending on if we ran out of time today). A copy can also be printed out from this web page. Tomorrow we are going to do some getting to know you activities. This helps me to get to know faces and names.
